Camping & Football

We went to Laramie last weekend for the Boise State vs. University of Wyoming (U-dub) football game. We decided that since we had not even gone camping once this summer, we would camp the night before the game. I mean, it would really be a shame if we waited until next year because that would mean that Hannah's first camping trip would be after her second birthday! That's WAY too old for a first camping trip! I couldn't decide which ones to post because they were all so stinkin adorable, so there's a lot this time!

Best Day I've Had in a While

Hannah had a really rough night last week. She has been teething and having some serious seasonal allergies, so we didn't get much sleep that night. She finally fell back asleep at 5:30ish and my alarm was set to go off at 6:00. There was no way I was going to function with approximately two hours of sleep so I decided to call in to work. I slept a little longer until Hannah woke up around 7:30. I tried to get her to go back to sleep, but to no avail, so I decided I better just wear her out! So we got up, threw on some clothes and went out for breakfast. We shared some chicken-minis and yogurt at Chick-fil-a and then hit the play room for a while. She had a great time playing with all of the toys and attempting to climb up the slide.

On the way home, I decided that we should stop at the park in our neighborhood. It was a beautiful day and it's like it was just beckoning us to play. I guess Hannah was pretty happy about it because as soon as I got her down out of her carseat she took off running to the park area. Hannah has really started to enjoy the park these days and is not a bit afraid to climb the stairs in order to go down the slide! She is taking a rest on the base of the light pole. The kid can finds seats in the funniest places!

Check out those curls! I keep thinking that one day I am going to wake up and her hair isn't going to be curly anymore. On the contrary, it seems to be getting curlier each day!

We both took a nice long nap when we got home. It was beautiful...just what we needed to have a productive rest of the day. Can you tell? We colored with Hannah's new mess-free markers and then did some finger painting.

Cleaning up after finger painting. We spent more time cleaning up than we did painting, but that's okay...it was fun and something that we never could have done with Jon there. He gets a little stressed out when Hannah and I make a mess!

She saw me using the clorox wipes to clean the floor up after painting, so I guess she decided to help. She was getting busy with it too...I wasn't planning to clean the floors by hand, but I guess Hannah decided it was necessary.

That day was one of the best days I have had in a long time. It's days like that that make me miss staying home with Hannah, mostly because she has been grumpy a lot when I pick her up from daycare. Her best time of day tends to be in the mornings and I have been missing those times lately! C'est la vi! I may have to have a few more "Hannah Days" though...it helps me to get my fix!

I am sorry for the serious blog-slacking that I've been doing lately. As you will see from the pictures below we have been pretty busy these last few weeks, but we've also been having a blast so it's worth it! I just thought I would go through and talk about our last few weeks next to each of the pictures. Oh yes! The title for this blog, "Hey-Yeah" deserves a little description. It's one of Hannah's words that she says...not hi or hello...hey-yeah. When she pretends to talk on the phone she says, "hey-yeah?" instead of hello? It is so stinkin cute! My other favorite thing that she is saying right now is "tanku." That means thank you. She's just started this the last few days and I can't get enough at how polite she is! :) Anyway, I hope you enjoy and I also hope that I can get caught up with this really long post so that I will be back on track for the future! Enjoy!

This picture is so funny to me. It says so much about Hannah...she has climbed into her suitcase that was in her bedroom, put on my necklace that was in my night stand and is reading a book while the half eaten football lies to the side. That's my girl!
Another passion of hers...sidewalk chalk! She's pretty good huh? Drew a flower, a heart, and managed to write her name, although she's not using capital letters just yet. Kidding, kidding...but really she DOES love sidewalk chalk...especially when her friends from across the street see her and join her.

We were out looking for a bike helmet and this is the one she picked out. I think it would be perfect if she could just hold it up!This is the one she is getting. We got a seat not too long ago for Hannah to ride in on the back of my bike, hence the need for a helmet. She's not riding a bike by herself just yet, although she does try every time we are in a store that sells them.

The zoo...my dad and sister decided to make an impromptu trip to CO to visit us. It was short, but we were all really glad they came. One of their favorite things to do is to go to the zoo. Our favorite exhibit, the giraffes. Hannah is such a chicken when it comes to animals, but the zoo has been helping her with her fears. Mostly, she just hates animals that threaten to lick her so we were all very proud that she was brave enough to feed the giraffes this time. Despite our praises and clapping, she still cried a little, but she did way better than previous times...it's progress!

Apparently she has decided that she will not be intimidated by this guys huge tongue hanging out, so she gives him a little taste of his own medicine. You might have to click on the picture to enlarge it, but she is definitely sticking he tongue out at him!

"1-2-3 wee!!!" That's the name of her game and she will sucker anyone and everyone into doing it. Here, she's about to sucker her Auntie and Grandpa! This is a great picture too...I am glad it came out.

This might be one of my favorite pictures of Hannah and Jon. They are having a blast on our little "hike" near our house. It is so nice to just get some fresh air sometimes.

This is Hannah playing putt-putt. Well, Jon and I started out playing, but after the first two holes, Jon and I found ourselves sharing a putter and using an extra ball that we had gotten just in case. Is she a "phenom" you might ask?? Well, it depends on how good she is supposed to be at one, but she definitely hit the ball a few times so that counts for us!

Jon got a new Shannon Sharpe jersey (he's a really good former NFL football player for the Denver Broncos). It's kind of a long story...anyway, he thought it would be really funny to put it on Hannah. I think she sports the blue and orange quite well!

Finally I think we are into the last week or so! I had been wanting some crab for a while, so we got some for dinner last weekend. I figured what the heck, since it was technically a holiday weekend. I am not very good at sharing my crab either, so I was a little distressed when Hannah liked it...A LOT! Fortunately, my eyes were bigger than my stomach because we even had some left over. We made crab dip out of that this week and Hannah scarfed that down too!

The Aquarium! That's another thing that we did over Labor Day weekend. We decided that we should go up to Denver more often because we always think of it as being far away, when in reality we can be downtown in an hour flat. So we took Hannah to the aquarium, fully expecting her to love it based on the few other experiences she has had with fish. She is enjoying it, can you tell?

At first she was a little afraid (remember the not fond of animals thing?), but once she realized that they couldn't get to her through the glass she was in love. So much so that Jon and I would get bored because she would want to stand and look at each window for forever. There were a couple of times when we had to drag her away from the window because she refused to leave on her own! And finally, a very proud moment for me, she touched some sting rays. At the end of the exhibits, you can buy sardines to feed to the sting rays that are in a huge pool. We didn't buy any sardines, but we stood around the pool for a long time. Hannah was psyching them out because she would dangle her fingers (which probably look like sardines to them) in the water so they would come to her. She was a little slower than them, but she did finally touch one and she squealed with glee afterwards. Maybe she's becoming a little less of a chicken! This is how I found Hannah the other day. I was cleaning the upstairs and wondered where in the world Hannah was when I went to start on her room and didn't find her. Apparently she decided it was bath time because she just climbed in and was playing with her bath toys. Silly girl!

Okay, so this picture has nothing to do with Hannah, except that she ate this for dinner last night. Purple potatoes?!? Have you ever seen such a thing? I was in one of my favorite grocery stores here and saw them. I wondered if they tasted like normal potatoes because they were sitting next to some Yukon Golds. I also wondered if they were purple on the inside or just on the outside...inside too and they taste just like normal potatoes, except creamier! Isn't that awesome? This takes a normal, bland looking food, and adds some kick you in the face color to your dining experience. I love it! And I am certain that it's not just food coloring or anything because this store is big on not using chemicals and stuff. Look for them...try them...you won't be disappointed!

And finally, last but not least, Hannah and me getting ready to go on our first bike ride together. I know she really doesn't look very thrilled at all, but she really was. She had a big smile on her face the whole time and even let out a few laughs when we were going fast down the hills. I just love that because we love to be outside as much as possible and my little girl seems to love it just as much as me! Well, that's all for now, more coming soon!

A Quick Little Hello

The wireless internet in our house has been down so I have to sit in the back corner of our basement to "plug in" if I want to get on the internet...so I haven't! There's so much to update you on, I just haven't been able to! Hannah is doing great...too great if you ask me! She is climbing like a mad woman and can now climb up onto the back of the couch, onto the couch, the bed, coffee tables, dining room chairs, and onto the bookshelf...yes the bookshelf...all of these things are fairly new except the couch and the bed. She is jabbering up a storm and says lots of words: mom, dad, ball, dog, more (as in food), bye, yeah, hey-yeah (that's hello), bubbles, fumble, and more that I just cannot think of right now. She seems to be learning about a word a week these days. She is also beginning to master the art of temper tantrums which is certainly testing our patience. She loves to go shopping and will actually pick things out and put them in the cart! We have been playing outside a lot lately because it has been really nice out and Hannah loves to play with her BFF's (the neighbor kids). We go for walks, play at the park, and as soon as I get her a helmet we will be going on bike rides too! Here's one picture of Hannah and me. She is "riding" in her new Kelty pack that we just got. I am totally in love with it and can't believe I waited this long to get it. I can go for little hikes now without having to carry her and without worrying that her stroller (while tough, it doesn't do super tough terrain very well) will make it or not. Anyway, this is all the time I have to update for now...hopefully we can get our internet up and running soon so I can update more and of course post more photos. I am off to bed...that's right, it is 9:00 pm my time and I am proud to say that I am going to bed! Goodnight!

Finally Doing Better

I am sorry it has taken a few days to get this updated. On top of the chaos, our internet at home has been down. Hannah is doing MUCH better. She went to her follow up appointment with her doctor yesterday. She said that it looks like they were "fever seizures" and that any number of things going on in Hannah's little body could have caused them. What happened is that while she was napping at daycare her fever must have shot up from possibly normal to something 3-4 degrees higher, which is what initially caused the seizures. The problem after the seizures occurred was to figure out what caused the fever. She actually said that it looks like maybe it was a "perfect storm" of things because no one thing would probably cause her temperature to spike, but that several things all at once could...like teething, her immunizations about 10 days prior, and a cold (possibly some mild pneumonia). She said that each one separately could have caused some minimal fever, but piled on top of each other that minimal fever turned into a lot. So, Hannah got some antibiotics in the hospital and is still taking some now and really is feeling a lot better. Her teeth are still really bothering her but I would imagine that is going to go on for a while since she is working on all four molars right now. Who knows how long it will take for those to actually break through! Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for your prayers and thoughts. It has meant so much to our family!

Hannah Update

Just trying to give an update wherever I can...Hannah got sick today at daycare and ended up having a ceisure. They thought it was due to a fever spike, although they are still doing tests to make sure. She had another one on the way to the doctor's office, so we ended up going to the hospital. They did a CAT scan, chest x-ray, drew blood, put in a cathiter (sp?), put in an IV, and so much more. She is currently working on getting five teeth, so many of the "symptoms" that she has been having were related to that (or so we thought). After the chest x-ray, it appears that she has pnemonia. So she was admitted to the hospital and we are waiting to hear more news in the morning. I will try to keep everyone posted!
