Finally an Update

So much has been going on these last few weeks, I haven't really had much time to really give an update on Hannah's activities. She has quickly mastered the art of crawling and is so fast she can even sneak up on us. Since a few days after she started crawling, she immediately started trying to pull up on things, although at that time it was mostly your pant legs or blankets. She was/is really good at balancing on just her knees, but has now mastered something else. Pulling up! She tries to pull up on everything! As you will see in the video below, "Hannah in the Bathroom" she pulls up with ease and is very good at balancing herself on things. She of course still falls, but usually lands on her butt and since she's got that nice puffy diaper on it doesn't even phase her. She has started "cruising" on furniture a little and around her toys. She has also learned climbed up the first step, so the baby gates are now being used regularly.

In other news, she went to her nine month check up last week. That's right, she is nine months old now! The doctor was quite impressed with her growth spurt. She grew three inches taller, which her head circumference also increased a lot. Apparently she was using all of her calories to build her bones because she didn't put on very much weight at all. She is now in the 90th percentile for her height (where is this coming from?!?) and the 16th for her weight. She has been cleared to eat pretty much whatever we want to give her (other than a few things that you are supposed to wait until after a year for) and has already tried, and loved, black beans, salsa, and some new yogurt melts. She is now 29 inches long, so we are going to have to get her a new carseat. The one she has now is only good for up to 29 inches, so it's kind of exciting that she will be moving up into a "big girl" carseat.

I think that's about all the news for Hannah these last few weeks. She is very busy playing these days and it enjoying her new found freedom of being mobile. Here are just a few pictures from the last few weeks for you to enjoy.

I love this picture. She is just so sweet and cuddling with her toys. So far, despite her mobility, she still loves to cuddle up with Jon or me for a good snooze or just to play. This is right after I put her down for her nap.

Hannah in the Bathroom

Hannah has been cracking me up lately, and worrying me at the same time. We have a little step up to the bath tub in our bedroom. Since she has learned to stand up, she has been trying to get into the tub with me when I am in the shower. I can just see her little hand slapping the tub and can tell that she is pulling on the curtain. I always wonder what it looks like from the outside and got to see the other day when Jon was taking a shower. Immediately, I grabbed the camera to get it on video, so here it is. Sorry about Jon singing in the background, he didn't know that I was video taping!

Golfing

It has been really warm (at least to us) for most of this month so we decided to go golfing a few weeks ago. In Laramie, we just pushed Hannah around the course in her stroller, but they wouldn't allow that here so we ended up just hitting a bucket of balls instead. Here's a few pictures of that. Hannah seemed to really enjoy it!

Day at the Park

It has been absolutely beautiful weather out the past few days, and I just can't believe it! The first winter we lived in Laramie, the average high was 3 degrees for the entire month of January, so I have been ecstatic about upper 50's this week! So, Hannah and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day yesterday and went to the park. She wasn't crazy about the swings or the slides just yet, but she loved being outside and playing with the grass. Here are a few super cute pictures that I got while we were there. Not too thrilled to be at the park, but she got better the longer we were there. Grass!

That Funny Girl!

Hannah has really been cracking us up lately. Her personality is definitely blooming and she is in to everything now that her crawling (forward now too) is getting better. Here are a couple of the pictures that I took because I happened to look at her and started laughing because of what she was doing at the time.

I think this was one evening around 6ish (but it could have been later, I don't remember exactly) and I was feeding Hannah her dinner. She was having some prunes thanks to a little bit of congestion down south, but I don't like to let her have too many or else they can destroy her tummy for days. So, I got up to mix up a little yogurt for the rest of her meal and when I came back, this is how I found her. Not to worry though, as soon as I sat down, she perked up long enough to have a bite, then would go back to trying to sleep, then perked up for another bite. This went on for quite a while.

After finishing about 3/4 of her yogurt, she finally gave in and went to sleep. And I mean passed out, didn't even flinch when I took her out of her chair, passed out! Hilarious! She has never fallen asleep eating real food before. It was a first so I had to take a picture!

Speaking of sleeping, this is another thing that she has been doing lately. I don't know if she is just extra tired lately from all the effort that she exerts trying to crawl, but sometimes she will just fall asleep on the floor for a little power nap. Doesn't usually last for more than 5-10 minutes, but I guess it does the trick because she is ready for action again once she wakes up.

We made a shelf for Hannah's toys in our living room. We are hoping that she will be distracted by her toys rather than all of our DVD's that used to be in that spot. It is working for now anyway and she really seems to enjoy having some of her within her reach. She is so funny though because she will sit and pull one or two toys out at a time and play with them for a few minutes. Then she will pull out a few more and so on until ever last toy, book, and puzzle is out of the shelf, then she crawls off to play elsewhere. This is what it looked like when she was done one day, although she didn't get them ALL out this time!

This is one of Hannah's Christmas presents. It's a rolling lion that plays music when it moves or at the touch of his nose. She doesn't really like for him to move while she's on him, but she loves the music. She will sit on him and "dance" while the music is playing. She does this with other toys, when Jon or I sing to her, or when she hears the radio. What can she say, she likes to groove!

Last, but not least, she has a new obsession with our china cabinet. Any time she crawls by, she stops to check herself out in the mirror that is in the back. It's so funny to watch because she will be cruising and then all of a sudden, stop, sit up, and smile/talk to the baby in the mirror!

No Napping for Me Mom!!!

Hannah has been having some trouble sleeping lately. I am not sure why really, other than the fact that we have had crazy schedules the last few weeks due to Christmas and being out of town. I could tell that Hannah was sleepy because she started to get grumpy and began rubbing her eyes, plus it was her normal nap time. So I brought her upstairs to her bed and the wailing began. She was ticked! I have been sitting her down in her bed, that way if she wants to play with her animals for a few minutes before going to sleep she can do that. Well, that didn't work this time. I let her cry for a few minutes and she got louder and louder. So I went to check on her and this is how I found her. The pictures are a little dark because the lights are off in her room, but I think you will get the idea from looking at them. The one on the right is from behind her and then the left is what I saw when I looked down at her face. Let me clarify for all of you that are going to feel sorry for her...she is not sad, she is mad. Mad that I put her in her bed and mad because I want her to go to sleep. I couldn't help but crack up when I saw her, which made her even more mad, but what can you do? Laugh or join her crying, so I opted for laughing. Just wanted to share the pictures with you guys because it is still cracking me up...by the way, I pulled her out, rocked her for two minutes, and she was out so she really was in need of a nap!

She's Got Skills...

Hannah has developed lots of new "skills" these last few weeks so I thought I would share them with you guys. She's got: dancing skills, pickle-eating skills, table-drumming skills, shopping skills, air-licking skills, finger-sucking skills, tree-climbing skills, toy playing skills, pulling up skills, and last but certainly not least, crawling skills.

One of my favorite things to see her do is dance. Any time music comes on whether it be on TV, on a toy, or through us singing to her, she starts rocking and flailing her arms and usually mumbles stuff too. It's hilarious! Ever since she was born she seemed to be really affected by music and appears to be continuing as she gets older. It's so fun! She has also learned to sit up on her own, from a laying down position. My mom was in the living room with her one day and she said something that made me look over. I noticed that she was sitting up near the TV and asked how she got there and my mom said that she sat up. When I told her that Hannah could not do that, she said that she could now because she had been watching her do it for a while now! I was so excited to see her new "trick." Hannah is also crawling. Right now it's just a few steps at a time (in the forward direction at least), but she is getting better everyday. She's so cute because she knows that she has done something special when she moves because she squeals with excitement when she actually moves.

Pickle-eating skills: Her grandpa thought it would be funny to give her a pickle one day, but she actually seemed to like it because she ate it. Then she ate another one when Jon gave it to her...while I don't approve of her pickle eating, I have to admit that her face is pretty hilarious!
Table-drumming skills: If Jon drums on the table, she will mimic him and do it too.
Shopping skills: She really seems to enjoy shopping...or at least doesn't mind it because she likes cruising around in her stroller.

Air-licking skills: She has been sticking her tongue out like a crazy lady the last few weeks. She really acts like she is trying to lick the air, or your face, or her face...

Finger-sucking skills: Hannah hasn't ever really liked pacifiers and never really sucked or her thumb or fingers consistently when she was little. Things have changed (we think due to teething) the last few months and she sucks, mostly on her index finger now.

Tree-climbing skills: We don't know how she gets into the tree, but we think it's adorable and definitely picture worthy! :)

Toy playing skills: Hannah got lots of toys for Christmas so she has been busy breaking them all in the last week or so, and she has been loving it!

Crawling Skills: This is a picture of her backwards crawling skills. She got herself backed into the corner next to the TV and as you can tell she is really excited about it. What's even funnier is that she is really fast backwards. She crawls backwards and sideways and gets around pretty quickly, yet forward is tough. Maybe she just thinks, all babies crawl forward, but how many crawl backwards and sideways? She just has special skills, that's all!

We got some really cute pictures the last day that my mom was here. We had some breakfast at IHOP on the way to the airport. There was a little boy who was only a few months older than Hannah and she actually noticed him. Usually she doesn't notice babies, but I guess he was hard to ignore. He was smiling from ear to ear, laughing out loud, and flapping his arms in her direction. He was definitely laying it on thick, and Hannah was eating it up! It was so funny. Once the boy and his family left, we got the super excited and fired up Hannah, which I love because she is hilarious when she is like that. She was in a great mood to boot, so it made for a fun breakfast and day, which equals lots of good pictures! Here are a few of them!
